Lunchtime Mindfulness for Junior Students
At Kinross Wolaroi School, we believe in fostering emotional well-being and resilience from an early age. That’s why we are excited to offer our Lunchtime Mindfulness Club—a weekly drop-in session designed to help Kindergarten to Year 6 students develop lifelong skills in focus, self-regulation, and emotional balance.
A Calm and Supportive Space for Learning
Held every Monday during lunch in the school library, the Lunchtime Mindfulness Club provides a welcoming and nurturing environment where students can engage in:
✅Guided mindfulness activities to promote relaxation
✅Breathing techniques to enhance focus and reduce stress
✅Creative exercises and interactive games to encourage self-awareness and social connection.
The Benefits of Mindfulness for Children
At Kinross Wolaroi School, we are committed to supporting the holistic development of every child. Research highlights the many benefitsof mindfulness for young learners, with studies (Weare, K. 2018) suggestingthat mindfulness can:

Building Lifelong Skills: What Students Will Explore
Over the course of eight weeks, students will learn and practice a variety of mindfulness techniques, with each session focusing on adifferent theme:
Week 1: Finding Calm Inside Ourselves
Week 2: Using the Breath to Calm
Week 3: Body Awareness
Week 4: Feelings and Emotions
Week 5: Kindness and Compassion
Week 6: Belonging
Week 7: Gratitude
Week 8: Celebrating Mindfulness
Each session offers interactive and age-appropriate activities designed to help students manage emotions, build resilience, and develop a sense of inner calm—essential skills that benefit them both in and beyond the classroom.
A Supportive and Inclusive Experience
The Lunchtime Mindfulness Club is open to all K-6 students at Kinross Wolaroi School, whether they are new to mindfulness or have practiced before. Our Senior School volunteers play an active role in guiding and encouraging younger students, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
