HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Kinross Wolaroi School has been a boarding school with day students for most of its history. Situated in a secure, picturesque country setting of Orange, NSW with convenient transport links, our school welcomes over 350 boarders in Years 7 to 12 from across the state and beyond. Boys and girls are accommodated on separate campuses, each designed to provide a supportive environment tailored to their specific needs. All boarders are full-time (seven- days-a-week) however there is flexibility for students to go home on weekends.

Holistic Wellbeing

Our dedicated wellbeing program addresses the challenges of adolescence in a developmentally appropriate way. Our experience staff and carers are attuned to the needs of young people living away from home. We also welcome families to visit and encourage students to spend weekends at home, maintaining strong family connections.

Academic Support

We take pride in knowing and supporting our students' academic potential. To foster their success, we offer structured prep and group study sessions in the evenings, supervised by academic staff. Senior students in Years 11 and 12 have dedicated study-bedrooms equipped with personal desks, allowing them the privacy to focus on their studies.

Engaging Weekend Activities

We offer a variety of activities on the weekends, including movies, swimming, theatre, baking, barbecues, campouts, mountain biking, and more. These activities promote camaraderie and provide a fun, balanced boarding experience.

State of the Art Facilities

Kinross Wolaroi School boasts two 50-acre campuses with state-of-the-art facilities. Each boarding house features attractive and comfortable interior-designed common areas for gatherings and quiet spaces for privacy. Our recreational facilities include an indoor eight-lane 25m heated pool, an outdoor pool, two fully equipped Recreation Centres with gym facilities, movie screens, student kitchens, and extensive manicured gardens.

How do we help students adjust to boarding life?

With many of our boarders coming from regional communities across NSW, Kinross Wolaroi School offers a Boarders' Sleepover Program to Year 7 students to assist new students and their families prepare for life in boarding. Students are introduced to key aspects of boarding life, meet other students and sleep over in their boarding house, while parents are able to attend an information seminar and meet other parents. Orientation for school and boarding takes place during Term 4.

What does a typical day look like?

The structure of each day varies, especially on weekends, but a typical weekday includes classes, meals, sports, and co-curricular activities. Evenings are dedicated to supervised study time, social activities, or free time to relax. On weekends, students participate in sports commitments, boarding activities, social events, and additional study time, with ample opportunities for relaxation.

How do students stay connected to their families?

We actively encourage and support strong family connections. Students have designated times each day to call home, and parents and relatives are welcome to visit the school at any time. We also encourage students to spend occasional weekends at home to maintain family bonds.

How are boarding houses structured?

The boarding program is overseen by the Heads of Girls’ and Boys’ Boarding, who manage eight boarding houses.

What type of meals are provided?

Our school employs a team of qualified chefs who prepare fresh, seasonal meals for our boarding students, catering to a variety of dietary needs and preferences. The catering team ensures that all meals are nutritious and delicious.
