Performing Arts

Encouraging Expression

At Kinross Wolaroi School, the Performing Arts program offers students extensive opportunities to develop their talents in music, drama, and dance. With a focus on creativity, collaboration, and personal growth, students of all levels are encouraged to participate in a variety of performances, from musicals to orchestral concerts.

The program fosters a vibrant artistic community, enabling students to express themselves, build confidence, and pursue excellence both on stage and behind the scenes.

Music

With our Music program recently rated as one of the State’s top ten by AMEB, Kinross Wolaroi School offers a thriving cocurricular music program to complement the foundational skills learnt in the music classroom from an early age.

Our distinguished music program caters to the diverse needs and talents of every student, providing both classroom and private musical education
of the highest calibre. Private tuition is offered for instrumental, composition and voice.

Junior School Music

Kinross Wolaroi School offers a thriving co-curricular music program which complements the foundational skills learnt in the music classroom.
Our Junior School ensembles accommodate a variety of musical interests and abilities so that from an early stage, students are given the opportunity to learn the valuable social and technical skills of group work, under the direction of a conductor. These groups rehearse before and after school and during lunchtimes. They serve the school and wider community through performances at concerts, school events, eisteddfods and on special occasions throughout the year.

The following ensembles are offered to our Junior School students:

  • Junior Strings
  • Junior Band
  • Chamber Ensembles
  • Junior Percussion Ensemble
  • Koristers (selective choir)
  • Junior Dance

Our ensemble directors are talented and highly skilled music educators who foster a creative environment in which students can grow and flourish. Additionally, this program is strengthened by every student participating in a Junior School choir (organised by stages) which perform at school assemblies and other events.

During the school day many students take advantage of the specialised individual tuition available in woodwind, brass, strings, percussion, piano, speech and drama, voice and guitar.

Senior School Music

Kinross Wolaroi School has a history of excellence in music and it has been recognised as having a leading classroom and instrumental music education program in the Central West which meets the needs and abilities of all students.

As well as pursuing excellence, the Performing Arts faculty aims to foster the growth of students’ imagination and education through encouragement, collaboration and team work. This goal is achieved through our extensive co-curricular program, with particular emphasis on providing musical pathways for students of all abilities across all mainstream instruments and vocal pursuits.
